Intro to Mode Superposition — Lesson 1

A dynamic response analysis of a structure can be time-consuming. Is it possible to solve the problem faster while retaining accuracy? The answer is yes. The modal superposition method is a powerful technique for reducing computation time. Using this method, the dynamic response of a suspension bridge can be approximated by a superposition of a small number of its eigenmodes.

In this lecture we learn why the mode superposition method is useful.
