When using the Ansys Fluent Meshing Watertight Geometry workflow, once the surface mesh is generated, the Describe Geometry task is used to set up the model for meshing. This is completed by specifying the type of imported geometry, executing necessary subtasks, and by creating regions that are required for generating the volume mesh. In this two-part lesson, we will first learn about the workings of this task. Next, we will discuss regarding the Enclose Fluid Regions task, which can be used to cap boundaries of solid regions and extract fluid regions. We will then learn about the Share Topology task and the need to use it at meshing level. Finally, we will discuss the details of the Update Boundaries and Update Properties tasks, which can be used to modify the name and type of boundaries and regions in the model.

Part – 1
In part 1 of the lesson, we will learn about the various user inputs required in the Describe Geometry task. We will then learn how to create capping surfaces for fluid region extraction, followed by creating regions using the Create Regions task.
Part – 2
In the second part of the lesson, we will discuss the working details of the Share Topology task and learn how to execute it. We will then learn how to use the Update Boundaries and Update Regions tasks to update the properties of the boundaries and the regions, respectively.
