Similar to how what we did in the previous lesson, here we will use the systematic material selection methodology to find the best performing materials for a monocoque chassis. Starting by categorization of the design requirements into a Function, Constraints and Objectives, we will focus on polymer matrix composites and try to select the material that would provide the best cost saving and lightweighting potential. At the end, we will take into account the environmental impact of our material choice by looking into the carbon footprint of our best performing candidates to make a final choice.
