Types of Composite Materials — Lesson 2

Composite materials are used in a wide variety of products, from everyday items like ceramic plates and cardboard to high-end items like airplane fuselages and windmill blades. The composite materials must have diversity of structural and material compositions to appeal to such a wide range of applications. We need to understand how to classify composites, as well as how they are made and out of which materials. This will aid in the right application of the composite and better comprehending it. To further our understanding, we will look at the terminology used in the field of composites. We'll look at the benefits that each form of composite has to offer and the applications that result from them. Finally, we will examine the laminated and sandwich composite forms, which are the most common forms of composites, and talk about the components they are made of, along with their potential applications.
