In this lesson, the finite element method for 1D linear elliptic PDEs will be discussed. The study is done on the Galerkin form, also known as the finite-dimensional weak form. Trial and forcing functions are used for this form. Again, the example of the bar is used, and the domain is broken into various subdomains. Going to subdomains will help in solving the problem at hand.
In this video we will answer the following question:
When you apply the closure operation on all subdomains Omega_e, does this include the points x = 0 and x = L?
