Ansys Discovery allows you to customize the experience of using various functions within Discovery interface by creating custom shortcuts. You can have a quick look at all the currents shortcuts from the Shortcut Buddy and enhance your productivity. This article will guide you on how to add custom or edit existing shortcuts.<\/p>\n

Ansys Discovery: Creating Custom Shortcuts<\/a><\/p>\n

File Menu >> Settings >> Customize >> Shortcuts >> Add Shortcut.<\/p>\n

Discovery\u00a0allows you to create custom keyboard shortcuts for tools in the ribbon, view arc, results arc, and the sketch grid tool cluster in the graphics window. Some tools already have a predefined shortcut, such as Fill<\/strong>\u00a0(F), while others like\u00a0Split Body<\/strong>\u00a0do not.<\/p>\n

To create a custom shortcut:<\/p>\n

1. Go to File Menu > Settings > Customize > Shortcuts >> Add Shortcut<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2. Clicking on Add Shortcut <\/strong>button opens the window for adding\/editing the shortcuts.<\/p>\n

You need to select the tool for which you want to create a shortcut from the\u00a0Command<\/strong>\u00a0drop-down menu as shown in the below image.<\/p>\n

If the tool you select has no predefined shortcut, then\u00a0Discovery\u00a0will display\u00a0No shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a0Current shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0field.If the tool you select already has a shortcut, then\u00a0Current shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0will list the currently defined shortcut.<\/p>\n

3. Specify a single character (number, letter, and most other keyboard strokes) in the Enter new shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0field to represent the tool. You can include modifiers, such as\u00a0Alt<\/strong>,\u00a0Ctrl<\/strong>,\u00a0Shift. <\/strong>Note:\u00a0Alt+Ctrl<\/strong> is the only modifier combination that is not supported. You cannot use Windows, Tab<\/strong>,\u00a0Esc<\/strong> for shortcut commands.<\/p>\n


\nIf the value you entered is used by another tool, the tool will be listed next to the\u00a0Used by<\/strong>\u00a0field. As seen in the example below the new Shortcut that we are defining is already used by Fill operation.\u00a0 In this case you will see a message asking you to confirm your actions<\/p>\n

Click\u00a0Assign<\/strong> to create the custom shortcut. A table is populated with all the\u00a0custom shortcuts\u00a0you create. You can continue to add more shortcuts, modify a shortcut in the table using\u00a0Edit Shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0and remove any shortcut from the table using\u00a0Delete\u00a0<\/strong>Shortcut. <\/b>Your custom shortcuts will be saved in Discovery and will be available for use in new Discovery sessions. \ufffc<\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0To obtain a list of available shortcuts in\u00a0Discovery, click\u00a0Shortcut Buddy<\/strong>. A table listing all shortcuts will be displayed.
