If plugin mode is configured and you configure reader mode (without unconfiguring), both plugin and reader modes are available for importing CAD in Workbench.   If Workbench detects the CAD program is running, it will use plugin mode. If not, it defaults to reader mode. The plugin mode would only be used when active CAD session exists.
