HA  is used for only transient periodic flow  (such as turbomachinery flow) 2. Turbomachinery flow contains deterministic and non-deterministic flow variations. The deterministic flow variation is the dominant flow feature and can be captured using the HA method. On the other hand non-deterministic flow variation such as tip vortex shedding may not be captured in this type of simulation.
