{"id":160276,"date":"2022-09-26T10:15:22","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T10:15:22","guid":{"rendered":"\/knowledge\/forums\/topic\/discovery-analyze-mode-unable-to-view-or-change-material-properties\/"},"modified":"2023-08-16T06:33:42","modified_gmt":"2023-08-16T06:33:42","slug":"discovery-analyze-mode-unable-to-view-or-change-material-properties","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/knowledge\/forums\/topic\/discovery-analyze-mode-unable-to-view-or-change-material-properties\/","title":{"rendered":"Discovery Analyze Mode &#8211; Unable to view or change material properties."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Problem:<\/strong>\u00a0Cannot\u00a0edit or see the material properties when doubled clicked the LMB\u00a0(Left mouse button) on it from the physics tree, only\u00a0<em>Appearance and Information<\/em>\u00a0is\u00a0displayed without the actual physical properties.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-156032\" src=\"\/knowledge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/08\/OK-56-1.png\" alt=\" width=\"860\" height=\"492\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cause:\u00a0<\/strong>The materials defined in Discovery have all the properties relevant to all the physics environments defined, and they are filtered based on the type of physics environment chosen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solution:\u00a0<\/strong>Since Discovery filters the material properties based on the physics environment chosen (Structural, Fluids, solid thermal, etc.), the material properties appear when any boundary condition is defined.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>For example,\u00a0<\/b>Once fixed supports are defined, Discovery recognizes that as structural physics simulation and filters out properties for structural steel, relevant to structural analysis.
