FAQ Discovery Refine: How to capture Large Deformations in structural simulation?<\/h1>\n

Discovery\u00a0will automatically determine\u00a0the structural\u00a0modeling method for you based on the physics inputs by default. You can explicitly set the modeling method by going to\u00a0Simulation Options<\/strong>\u00a0in the ribbon of the\u00a0Simulation\u00a0tab and make modifications under\u00a0Additional Structural Options (Refine)<\/strong>. This option only affects solutions when in the\u00a0Refine\u00a0stage.<\/p>\n

Select\u00a0Specify modeling method<\/strong>\u00a0to override the method set by\u00a0Discovery. Choose between forcing the modeling method to be\u00a0Non-linear<\/strong>, in which case\u00a0large deformations will be captured.<\/p>\n

or forcing the method to be\u00a0Linear, in which case\u00a0sliding contact\u00a0will be idealized and large deformation will not be included.<\/p>\n
