{"id":159967,"date":"2022-09-26T09:59:54","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T09:59:54","guid":{"rendered":"\/knowledge\/forums\/topic\/faq-missing-areas-of-the-user-interface-in-discovery-live\/"},"modified":"2023-08-16T06:33:17","modified_gmt":"2023-08-16T06:33:17","slug":"faq-missing-areas-of-the-user-interface-in-discovery-live","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/knowledge\/forums\/topic\/faq-missing-areas-of-the-user-interface-in-discovery-live\/","title":{"rendered":"FAQ: Missing Areas of the User Interface in Discovery Live"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2  id=\"FAQ-MISSING-AREAS-OF-THE-USER-INTERFACE-IN-DISCOVERY-LIVE\"><strong>FAQ: Missing Areas of the User Interface in Discovery Live<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2  id=\"WHEN-LAUNCHING-DISCOVERY-LIVE-ONE-OR-MORE-AREAS-FUNCTIONS-ARE-MISSING\"><b>When launching Discovery Live, one or more areas\/functions are missing<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Discovery Live interface and toolbars may appear to be the same as Discovery SpaceClaim<\/li>\n<li>Some toolbars or buttons may be missing<\/li>\n<li>Discovery Live simulation functions may not be accessible<\/li>\n<li>The Discovery Live design window may be gray or empty<\/li>\n<li>Legend from the\u00a0Discovery Live interface is missing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The 5\u00a0most common causes of this problem are as follow:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. The graphics card does not meet the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/discoveryforum.ansys.com\/t\/801xrx\/ansys-discovery-hardware-requirements\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">minimum hardware requirements<\/a>\u00a0to run Discovery Live.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. The graphics card drivers are outdated.\u00a0 The latest drivers can be found\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/Download\/index.aspx?lang=en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Check if there is DLL file\u00a0<em>nvcuda.dll<\/em>\u00a0in Discovery installation directory and delete\u00a0it.\u00a0 It is typically in\u00a0<\/strong>C:Program FilesANSYS Incv193scdm .<br \/>\nDo Not Delete LLD file: nvcuda.LLD<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Critical files or changes to the PC that take place during the installation process are blocked by third party antivirus programs or Windows Defender.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To resolve this\u00a0problem:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Uninstall all Discovery products<\/li>\n<li>Temporarily disable any antivirus, antimalware, and\/or Windows Defender functions<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that you have full administrator privileges on the PC<\/li>\n<li>Right click the Discovery installer,\u00a0select Run as Administrator, and follow the prompts to complete the installation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The installation process will need to be allowed to make changes to the Windows Registry and some system folders in Windows.<\/p>\n<p>You may need to contact your IT administrator if you do not have sufficient privileges to make the necessary changes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. If the scale\/text size is set to more than 100% in computer Display Settings, it\u00a0may result in Legend not showing up in the Discovery Live interface. Setting the scale\/text size back to 100% resolves the issue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Below are the steps to change the scale\/text size:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>RIght click on your desktop and select &#8220;Display Settings&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Set &#8220;Change the size of text, apps and other items&#8221; as &#8220;100% (Recommended)&#8221;. See below snapshot for reference. This option for changing the text size may be different in different machines. For example, there could be a slider for adjusting the % of text size instead of a dropdown.
