Why does a combustion case modeled with the eddy-dissipation model not ignite?

Combustion proceeds whenever turbulence is present, and an ignition source is not required to initiate it. However, the model requires products to initiate reaction. If you have a steady-state simulation and initialize it, Fluent will set all species mass fractions to 0.01 for the eddy-dissipation ignition (you will also get a corresponding message). This is normally sufficient to start the reaction. When you start your simulation from a previous calculation or first simulate the cold mixing process, you must make sure that products are present. You may have to patch products into the reaction zone to ignite the flame.
