FAQ
ParticipantFollowing are our suggestions for increasing the speed: 1. Presence of any nonlinearities in the model. These would include plasticity, hyperelasticity, large deflection, contact of any type other than bonded other nonlinear element types (combin37, combin39, prets179, etc). The presence of nonlinearities can significantly increase the solution time. So reducing or removing the nonlinearities will affect the solution time the most. 2. Next is reducing the model size. This is usually the number of nodes but if there are constraint equations (CEs) in the model, then reducing the number of CE’s will speed it up. A point mass element attached to a surface that contains a lot of nodes creates a lot of CEs. 3. Writing the minimum result data and at the minimum number of time points will speed up the solve time. 4. Reducing the number of substeps and load steps will speed up the solution but unless you have put in a very small time step or other setting that forces many solutions this will likely not affect the solution time. 5. Increase the maximum number of utilized cores under the solve process settings.
