Gerber is less conservative than Goodman, but its resulted life is less than life with respect to Goodman, why?

Goodman is more conservative than Gerber if the material undergoes tensile stress, however, the Gerber theory incorrectly predicts a harmful effect of compressive mean stress. If you plot directional stress at areas with min life cycles, you will find those areas experiencing compressive stress. That’s why the Gerber theory predicts different min life from the Goodman and Soderberg theory.
