We all know that ‘large deflection on’ effect makes the analysis non-linear, essentially by taking into account the geometric or in other words, element sizes’ change and then modifying the stiffness matrix accordingly, on every iteration. The stiffness matrix here is a function of change in the displacements of the nodes itself for every iteration of each substep.nThe frictional and frictionless contact\/support also causes the analysis to become non-linear, which means that the stiffness matrix is modified for every iteration of each substep. But my question is that why is frictional\/frictionless non-linear? nFor a large displacement\/strain, we know that we have to take into account the changes in geometry since the stiffness matrix itself is a function of geometry, but why does the frictional or frictionless contact makes the analysis non-linear? Is there a relation between the stiffness matrix and any aspect originating due to frictional\/frictionless contact or support?n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-49655","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_old_topic_id":["21894"],"_bbp_old_topic_author_name_id":["Anonymous"],"_bbp_old_is_topic_anonymous_id":["false"],"_bbp_old_closed_status_id":["publish"],"_bbp_author_ip":["\u052eKN"],"_bbp_old_sticky_status_id":["normal"],"_bbp_likes_count":["0"],"_btv_view_count":["4879"],"_bbp_subscription":["254588","50697"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_status":["publish"],"_bbp_topic_id":["49655"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27791"],"_bbp_engagement":["240","50697","180472"],"_bbp_voice_count":["3"],"_bbp_reply_count":["41"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["304444"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["304444"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2023-08-31 19:03:23"]},"test":"rameez_ul_haq"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/49655","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/49655\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=49655"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
