The structure consists of a frame modeled with solid elements (<code data-path-to-node=\"0,1\" data-index-in-node=\"219\">*MAT_ELASTIC<\/code>) and wires modeled with beam elements (<code data-path-to-node=\"0,1\" data-index-in-node=\"271\">*MAT_PLASTIC_KINEMATIC<\/code>). The keyword file was initially generated using ANSYS LS-DYNA (where meshing was also done)&nbsp;and finalized in LS-PrePost.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"0,2\">For structural contacts, I defined <code data-path-to-node=\"0,2\" data-index-in-node=\"35\">*CONTACT_AUTOMATIC_GENERAL<\/code> and <code data-path-to-node=\"0,2\" data-index-in-node=\"66\">*CONTACT_AUTOMATIC_NODES_TO_SURFACE<\/code>. For the DEM-to-structure interaction, I implemented <code data-path-to-node=\"0,2\" data-index-in-node=\"155\">*DEFINE_DE_TO_BEAM_COUPLING<\/code> and <code data-path-to-node=\"0,2\" data-index-in-node=\"187\">*DEFINE_DE_TO_SURFACE_COUPLING<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"0,3\">However, during the simulation, the DEM particles completely penetrate both the wires and the frame as if the structure does not exist.
