The conductor is intended to be electrically connected to and driven by an external circuit.

For this purpose, I have assigned a Coil Terminal to each of the two end faces of the conductor. Both terminals are assigned to the same winding. The winding is defined as follows:

Type: External
Conductor: Solid
Number of parallel branches: 1

Both Coil Terminals are located entirely within the model region and do not touch either the Outer Region or the Moving Band.

However, during the simulation I receive the following error messages:

Illegal external terminal ‘Testterminal_1’: An external terminal must border the edge of the problem region and coincides with the surface of a 3D object.

and correspondingly for the second terminal:

Illegal external terminal ‘Testterminal_2’

My question is therefore:

Is it generally possible to define a Solid Conductor located entirely within the Inner Region with two Coil Terminals on its two end faces, assign both terminals to an External Winding, and then connect the winding to an external circuit?

If so, I would like to know which specific terminal/winding configuration is intended for this purpose. In particular, I am unclear why the two correctly defined Coil Terminals are interpreted as “external terminals” during the analysis, even though they are not located at the boundary of the problem region.

The reason for this setup is that, due to the moving geometry, the conductor cannot or should not extend to the outer boundary of the model. Nevertheless, I need to connect the conductor to an external circuit via its two electrical terminals.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards
Marco

["post-463226","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-winding

<meta name="description" content="Hello, I have a question regarding the modeling of a moving solid conductor in ANSYS Maxwell 3D.
