The input properties are from a published paper where both the thermal load and mechanical load act along the inner surface of the gun barrel. Both the thermal and pressure histories are plotted as a function of both the direction of the barrel and time.

Attempting to use these as input parameters, my issue comes with loading both of them as a function of time and distance. I can load both of them using tabular data but have to chose if i will load it either as a function of distance or time. Because i want to direct the software where to load, i used the temperature vs axial direction and pressure vs axial direction. However, the issue is, the loads are not transient and don’t develop with time. it happens instantly as i can’t control the time component to indicate temperature unit for when (time) and where (location) does it take place.

I’ve done a simple square surface temperature simulation where i load and unload a temperature on a surface. This allows for an impulse temperature and then observe how the component creates a temperature distribution through it’s walls. This is similar to what i desire. however, the temperature is uniform along the profile of the surface. something i don’t desire. The results are as I had expected.

Does anyone know how to go around this?

Was not sure if UDF would be needed to solve this😅

Below are the graphs

["post-462624","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-coupled-simulation

<meta name="description" content="Hi members I'd like to simulate a coupled thermo-mechanical simulation along the axis of a gun barrel.
