For this, I need a system representation of the control system (P-PI-PI cascaded loop), a simple motor representation, the mechanical motion (a turning motor, spindle and a moving table) and ideally some mild FEM to simulate deformation in the spindle. I’m specifically interested in non-linear dynamics introduced by both the control system and friction within the system, so any coupling methods that imply linearity are out. Goals of the simulation would include a modal analysis of the whole coupled system (including the control) to gauge the impact of different design parameters (stiffnesses in the axis, control parameters,…) and some vibration analysis in motion. Ideally, the simulation could be run from the command line on an HPC. I do not want to investigate thermal influences or electrodynamic losses. I’m quite new to Ansys and am now wondering what the best practice for setting up such a system would be and feeling a bit lost in between Twin Builder, System Coupling and Workbench. If anyone could share some tips or experience, I would greatly appreciate it!<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-455190","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-Twinbuilder-1","topic-tag-ansysmotion","topic-tag-digital-twin","topic-tag-mechanical"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_forum_id":["27794"],"_bbp_topic_id":["455190"],"_bbp_subscription":["661953","88"],"_bbp_author_ip":["2a00:1398:4:2e09:8dc3:b4e6:e915:c829"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["455398"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["455398"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2026-03-30 07:06:16"],"_bbp_reply_count":["1"],"_bbp_reply_count_hidden":["0"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_engagement":["661953","88"],"_btv_view_count":["101"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"]},"test":"marvin-frischkit-edu"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/455190","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/455190\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=455190"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
