{"id":453337,"date":"2026-02-26T17:01:04","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T17:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/vertical-taper-convergence-issues\/"},"modified":"2026-02-26T17:01:04","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T17:01:04","slug":"vertical-taper-convergence-issues","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/vertical-taper-convergence-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Vertical Taper Convergence Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&lt;p&gt;I am reaching out to see if there were any known issues in simulating a vertical taper (not lateral taper).&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;My current simulation consists of a linear vertical taper where I have a slab and rib waveguide geometry and over my tapering length the slab slowly gets etched along with the rib (rib geometry gets transferred into the slab). Once the slab is fully removed the rib geometry has taken it&#8217;s place.&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Simulating this in EME I can&#8217;t seem to get my results to converge at all.
