<p data-path-to-node=”4″>Hello,<\/p><p data-path-to-node=”5″>I am using <strong data-path-to-node=”5″ data-index-in-node=”11″>HFSS 2024 R2<\/strong> and I would like to simulate a Horn antenna and a metallic sphere using <strong data-path-to-node=”5″ data-index-in-node=”96″>only the IE (Integral Equation) solver<\/strong>, without any FEM or FE-BI regions.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=”6″>However, I am facing two main issues:<\/p><p data-path-to-node=”7,0,0″><strong data-path-to-node=”7,0,0″ data-index-in-node=”0″>Missing Menu:<\/strong> I cannot find the <strong data-path-to-node=”7,0,0″ data-index-in-node=”32″>”Insert HFSS-IE Design”<\/strong> option in the Project\/Insert menu. Only “Insert HFSS Design” and other standard menus are available.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=”7,1,0″>2. <strong data-path-to-node=”7,1,0″ data-index-in-node=”0″>Port Error in Hybrid Mode:<\/strong> Since I couldn’t find the IE-only design, I tried using <strong data-path-to-node=”7,1,0″ data-index-in-node=”83″>”HFSS with Hybrid and Arrays”<\/strong> mode. But when I delete the vacuum\/air box around the lumped port to solve it strictly with IE, I get the following error:<\/p><\/p>\n

<p data-path-to-node=”7,1,1,0″><em data-path-to-node=”7,1,1,0″ data-index-in-node=”0″>[error] Port refinement, process hf3d error: Port 1 does not have a solved inside material on either side.<\/em><\/p><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<p data-path-to-node=”8″>It seems the solver is forcing me to use an FEM region (vacuum) with FE-BI around the port.<\/p><p data-path-to-node=”9″><strong data-path-to-node=”9″ data-index-in-node=”0″>My questions are:<\/strong><\/p><ul data-path-to-node=”10″><\/p>\n

  • <p data-path-to-node=”10,0,0″>Is it possible to perform a <strong data-path-to-node=”10,0,0″ data-index-in-node=”28″>100% Surface Integral Equation (SIE)<\/strong> simulation for both the antenna and the sphere in 2024 R2?<\/p><\/li>\n
  • <p data-path-to-node=”10,1,0″>If so, how can I activate the standalone <strong data-path-to-node=”10,1,0″ data-index-in-node=”41″>HFSS-IE Design<\/strong> or solve the port refinement error without adding a 3D vacuum object?<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
