The box enclosing the plate has a thickness of 0.055 inch and is cooled by natural convection on all 6 sides. The box is defined as the air volume around the plate offset by 50mm&lt;br&gt;If I set the HTC on all 6 sides of the box created by the air volume to a constant value like 5 W\/m-K (a standard value for these problems) the model runs just fine.&lt;br&gt;If I set the HTC to &#8220;Use correlation&#8221; to and use 4 vertical sides, 1 top and 1 bottom then the model doesnt run and gives the error: &#8220;Solver initilization failed&#8221;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;For the solver settings:&lt;br&gt;Flow Regime: Laminar&lt;br&gt;Include Gravity: ON&lt;br&gt;Radiation Model: OFF&lt;br&gt;X Velocity Initial condition: 0.01 m\/s (Direction opposite gravity)&lt;br&gt;Use Model Based Flow Initialization: ON&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Pressure Under-Relaxation: 0.70, Body Force Discretization scheme&lt;br&gt;Momentum Under-Relaxation: 0.30&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;All other solver settings are default.&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-440802","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-aedt","topic-tag-AEDTICEPAK-1","topic-tag-ansys-electronics-desktop","topic-tag-natural-convection"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_forum_id":["27793"],"_bbp_topic_id":["440802"],"_bbp_subscription":["473488","577414","28969"],"_bbp_author_ip":["12.216.216.6"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["441077"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["441077"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2025-09-09 15:40:50"],"_bbp_reply_count":["1"],"_bbp_reply_count_hidden":["1"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_btv_view_count":["7195"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_edit_last":["473488"],"_bbp_engagement":["473488","28969"]},"test":"greg-harringtondrs-com"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/440802","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/440802\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=440802"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
