I tried out some step sizes.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>With step size&nbsp;0.01 sec, this error occurs instantly:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><\/p>\n<p>Element 1 located in Body &#8220;SYSSolid&#8221; (and maybe other elements) has become highly distorted.&nbsp; You may select the offending object and\/or geometry via RMB on this warning in the Messages window.&nbsp; Excessive distortion of elements is usually a symptom indicating the need for corrective action elsewhere.&nbsp; Try incrementing the load more slowly (increase the number of substeps or decrease the time step size).&nbsp; You may need to improve your mesh to obtain elements with better aspect ratios.&nbsp; Also consider the behavior of materials, contact pairs, and\/or constraint equations.&nbsp; If this message appears in the first iteration of first substep, be sure to perform element shape checking. Named Selections for the offending element can be created via the Identify Element Violations property on the Solution Information Object.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Also the solution has not converged. Total Deformation output:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/46061be7-166c-454a-864e-ab0d00c55753\/85115713-98a6-4863-a663-abba013d46c3_2020-05-13-20-50-40-a---transient-structural---mechanical-[ansys-academic-research-mechanical-and-cf.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>With step size 0.0001 sec, the simulation stops converging at step 167.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/46061be7-166c-454a-864e-ab0d00c55753\/857d7dfc-3b86-439d-8581-abba013c4ea8_2020-05-13-21-09-03-a---transient-structural---mechanical-[ansys-academic-research-mechanical-and-cf.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The shape has not even much deformed yet. Shown below is Total Deformation of latest result.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/46061be7-166c-454a-864e-ab0d00c55753\/e9c5860c-8d76-405d-b4d1-abba013c5684_2020-05-13-21-09-34-a---transient-structural---mechanical-[ansys-academic-research-mechanical-and-cf.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>With step size&nbsp;0.00001 sec,&nbsp;it stops converging after step 4238 and still not much deformation.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/46061be7-166c-454a-864e-ab0d00c55753\/614a8b91-8cb4-483b-b01f-abba014246cd_2020-05-13-21-33-16-a---transient-structural---mechanical-[ansys-academic-research-mechanical-and-cf.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>So I now reach 0.042 real time seconds instead of 0.017, but I have a ten times smaller step size and the simulation took about half an hour instead of ten minutes.
