<p>Hi,<\/p><p>See the photo below. My model has two cylinders, one blue and one grey. The diameter of the blue cylinder is equal to the inner diameter of the grey cylinder.<\/p><p>These two cylinders have already been meshed. <\/p><p>\"\"<\/p><p>I want to model the bond-slip behaviour between these two cylinders. <\/p><p>Hence, I want to use the nonlinear spring element COMBIN39 (see photo below). There are a couple of questions I want to ask:<\/p><\/p>\n

  1. Scope: How to select the Scope? Should all nodes where the outer and inner cylinders are in contact be selected? <\/li>\n
  2. Scope: How to select the Scope? Should I just select the contact surfaces rather than nodes?  <\/li>\n
  3.  Scope: What is the difference between selecting surfaces and selecting nodes?<\/li>\n
  4. Applied by: How does direct attachment work?<\/li>\n
  5. Behavior: What is the difference between Rigid and Deformable?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
