So I’m unsure if this is even correct modeling.
- I also tried flipping contact\/target sides, but the same result.
- Adjust to Touch is not available for bonded or CZM contact types.
- If I change the shell offset to bottom to match the contact geometry better, then Ansys no longer considers the shell thickness in the contact behavior.

So my question is how I can define the contact between a shell mid-surface and a solid face properly and avoid the solver warning. What I really want is to make sure the contact activates as expected and that the adhesive behavior, like debonding and frictional stress, is captured realistically.
I should mention that I already tested the same adhesive using CZM between two solid bodies, and in that case, everything worked fine, and the results matched the datasheet.
<\/span><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-431251","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-adhesive","topic-tag-czm","topic-tag-midsurface","topic-tag-shell-elements"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_forum_id":["27791"],"_bbp_topic_id":["431251"],"_bbp_subscription":["491858","49782","480261"],"_bbp_author_ip":["141.23.171.155"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["431711"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["431711"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2025-05-15 13:03:51"],"_bbp_reply_count":["4"],"_bbp_reply_count_hidden":["0"],"_bbp_voice_count":["3"],"_bbp_engagement":["491858","49782","480261"],"_btv_view_count":["584"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_notification_enabled":["491858"]},"test":"f97a56650595d7e7285143619b76b5f2c519591f"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/431251","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/431251\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=431251"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
