It involves a 45 degree spacer in contact with an angled 3D printed inconel flange. I am wondering what coefficient of friction I should be using. Through research, most people recommend a value .05-.1 for metal contact. Why wouldn&#8217;t you use the actual coefficient of friction instead? I know for steel-steel it&#8217;s significantly higher. Is this about taking a more conservative approach, or is the coefficient ANSYS uses different from the coefficient of static friction. If I choose a low value (.1) the stress is over 60ksi in the spacer.
