I have been using this software ever since I did my first CFD study and I am still amazed by how effective a tool it can be after a long-term experience simply because you can block structure a geometry and avoid a lot of mesh-related issues afterwards.

But now I see mentions of Icem CFD in posts in which people recommend an “upgrade” to other meshing tools such as ANSYS Meshing and Fluent Meshing. Moreover, even though those options receive a lot of updates and bug fixes, Icem CFD does not seem to change anymore. You can simply see this by checking out the interface. I am an experienced and a fast user of Icem CFD and I want to keep on meshing the geometries in a block-structured manner. I have tried both of the other options and I saw a steep learning curve because they were unable to give me the mesh in the time window I had. Too many skewed cells, many options not user-friendly at all to people who know even a lot about meshing, and who attempted to use them in a few simple cases. I know that there is a big scientific community using actively Icem CFD and I guess it would be very beneficial for all of us to know what the future holds for CFD grid generation.

Kindest regards

["post-41097","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry
[{"0":
13277
Anonymous
false
publish
null
normal
0
850
238081
unanswered
publish
41097
27790
160970
1
0
0
41097
2020-02-20 08:23:00
["GET
