The feet of the chair are fixed supports (see image).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/126bdb0d-9b87-4063-acfd-aa9500effb47\/0e142097-3a7a-4e64-bc63-ab4800a17960_chair-applied-force.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"chair force\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the deformation I expect greter values far form the fixed supports, thus around the tip of the chair, and minimal or null values in correspondence of the fixed supports. Is it right?&nbsp;this is the output<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/126bdb0d-9b87-4063-acfd-aa9500effb47\/931b4013-5b43-4d72-9746-ab4800a22db6_chair-deformation.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"chair deformation\">,<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>however why the seat is green coloured?<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>About the stress distribution what can I expect? If the stress is force divided by area of applied load shouldn&#8217;t it involve only the region where the force is applied?why is there some stress at the tip of the chair?<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the strain&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/126bdb0d-9b87-4063-acfd-aa9500effb47\/1990340c-92f9-4743-af21-ab4800a3a322_chiar-strain.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"chai strain\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I know that the strain is the change in deformation divided by the initial length (Lfinal-Linitial)\/Linitial. Thus shouldn&#8217;t it be that:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>if Lfinal &gt;Linitial (tension, stretching)&nbsp; strain positive<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>if Lfinal =0 (no displacement) strain =-1<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>if Lfinal &lt;Linitial (compression)&nbsp; strain is negative.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I know the picture shows the equivalent strain thus all positive, but it is correc to think that the strain should be present in correspondence of higher deformation? I can&#8217;t explain the distribution of strain in the model.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Please, clarify my doubts.
