


{"id":39933,"date":"2020-01-03T20:25:22","date_gmt":"2020-01-03T20:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/structural-analysis-of-rotating-disk-mounted-on-shaft\/"},"modified":"2020-01-03T20:25:22","modified_gmt":"2020-01-03T20:25:22","slug":"structural-analysis-of-rotating-disk-mounted-on-shaft","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/structural-analysis-of-rotating-disk-mounted-on-shaft\/","title":{"rendered":"Structural Analysis of rotating Disk mounted on shaft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello everyone,<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I am working on structural analysis of turbine and i have to study the response under rotation, for now i have considered a small disk mounted on shaft supported on two bearings<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li>Bearings i have provided on edges of steps in the shaft and providing stiffness (K11 &amp; K22 = 1E+06 N\/mm)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>At the end faces i have provided remote displacements (only rotation allowed about the longitudinal axis)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>and RPM to both bodies i am providing for centrifugal load<\/li>\n<p>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Can anyone check whether i am applying correct boundary conditions means my model is correct or not or it need any changes, model screenshot also attached.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>configuration i am working on also attached.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8ac42327-3efd-4bd9-91af-aae90076728f\/39a5d254-d11f-4fde-a810-ab37015030ce_configuration.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"configuration\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>As per configuration, right end of shaft would be coupled to generator so only rotation about longitudinal axis &amp; rest constrained seems fine but at left end should i allow translations as well.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Also why does it give deflection in all directions when only standard earth gravity is applied although values are very very small?
