I want apply a pulling force in the X direction to the faces and study the displacement. I have created a rigid remote point scoped to all the faces and applied a force to the point.<\/p>
<\/p>
However I notice some rotation of the faces which I want to eliminate, the faces should only have translation in the X direction. What would be the correct approach to achieve this?<\/p>
My ideas currently are:<\/p>
- Apply a displacement to the faces directly, with only the X DOF free
- Apply a remote displacement to the remote point

Is there a difference between the two?

Thanks!<\/p><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-396049","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-ansys-mechanical","topic-tag-displacement","topic-tag-remote-force","topic-tag-remote-point"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_forum_id":["27791"],"_bbp_topic_id":["396049"],"_bbp_subscription":["481462","440006"],"_bbp_author_ip":["146.247.140.58"],"_bbp_reply_count":["4"],"_bbp_reply_count_hidden":["0"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_engagement":["481462","440006"],"_btv_view_count":["934"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_edit_last":["481462"],"_bbp_revision_log":["a:2:{i:396050;a:2:{s:6:\"author\";i:481462;s:6:\"reason\";s:13:\"Clearer title\";}i:396067;a:2:{s:6:\"author\";i:481462;s:6:\"reason\";s:0:\"\";}}"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["396935"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["396935"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2024-12-10 12:24:09"],"_bbp_likes_count":["1"]},"test":"c69fe209356f5239d8e88347af12f7af9c5dd131"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/396049","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/396049\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":396067,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/396049\/revisions\/396067"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=396049"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
