


{"id":391982,"date":"2024-10-30T11:34:57","date_gmt":"2024-10-30T11:34:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/tensile-failure-in-ansys-but-not-in-reality-related-to-preload\/"},"modified":"2024-10-30T11:34:57","modified_gmt":"2024-10-30T11:34:57","slug":"tensile-failure-in-ansys-but-not-in-reality-related-to-preload","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/tensile-failure-in-ansys-but-not-in-reality-related-to-preload\/","title":{"rendered":"Tensile Failure in Ansys but not in reality related to preload"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;hello eveyone,&lt;\/span&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;I&acute;ve been simulating and studying the behavior of a part that suffers the force of preload, here are the main data:&lt;\/span&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;Material: AL6082-T6&lt;\/span&gt;<\/li>\n<li>&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;Bolt: M8 12.9 quality&lt;\/span&gt;<\/li>\n<li>&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;Yield strengh 250MPa&lt;\/span&gt;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;To know the preload I have to apply, I used the T(torque)=K(friction coefficient)*D(diameter)*F(preload)&lt;\/span&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;T=31Nm&nbsp;&lt;\/span&gt;<\/li>\n<li>&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;D=8&lt;\/span&gt;<\/li>\n<li>&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;K=0.15 (most websites say this is the most common)&lt;\/span&gt;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;Here is my problem: When i put the preload of 25KN Ansys says that it breaks because of the tensile strengh. I dont know if is somethng related to the material, the connections or the preload. &lt;\/span&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style=&#8221;font-size: 12pt;&#8221;&gt;The deformations are also no correlated to reality because if you put 25KNthe 3mm gap becomes 2mm but in reality is 1mm the final dimension.
