The model is composed of shell elements and beams, with connectivity established using the batch connection feature in ANSYS Mechanical’s mesh structure tree.<\/p>
I have successfully obtained stress results and other outputs required for the analysis. However, I have not been able to extract the Bending Moment and Shear Force diagrams at transverse sections along the ship’s length.<\/p>
These diagrams are essential as they are needed for subsequent loading adjustments based on the shear forces and bending moments I get from my analysis results.<\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/30-10-2024-1730285878-SF-BM in whole ship.png\" alt=\"Bending Moment and Shear Force Diagrams\" \/><\/p>
After researching in many ANSYS forums and in the internet, I found from other FEA program that this is possible. For example, see relevant link:<\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tecnodigitalschool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/cropped-salamandra_solo-1-32x32.png\" \/><\/span><span class=”smart-link-title-wrapper css-0″>How to make free-body cuts of your model in Abaqus – TecnoDigital School<\/span><\/span><\/a>

<\/span>I was unable to find a similar feature in the ANSYS. The Shear Forces and Bending Moments must be produced by the stresses \/ nodal forces occured in the model.<\/p>
Could you advise if there is a way to implement a procedure to obtain these diagrams in ANSYS?<\/p>
I have attached screenshots showing an example of the bending moment and shear force diagrams I aim to achieve for longitudinal sections of the ship with transverse cross-sections and my ship model in ANSYS. Note that my model is only a three cargo hold mode, thus not all the structure of the ship has been modelled.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/30-10-2024-1730285818-ship_model_ansys.png\" alt=\"Ship Model in ANSYS Mechanical\" \/><\/p>
Thank you.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-391964","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-mechanicalworkbench-1","topic-tag-2021-r1-1"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_subscription":["476481","58821"],"_bbp_author_ip":["93.109.218.195"],"_btv_view_count":["1619"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_topic_id":["391964"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27791"],"_bbp_engagement":["58821","476481"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["1"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["391995"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["391995"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2024-10-30 12:31:51"]},"test":"mlefkioumail-ntua-gr"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/391964","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/391964\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=391964"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
