The particles are very small, around 10 micron, so discrete phase model would be the best option for me for the particle-side.<\/p><p>It seems most prior works have used ansys mechanical to do a first-order approximation of the pressure\/velocity waves, but I also have a flowing fluid in my model, which would cause drag forces on the particles, too. Is there a way to compute the flow induced by pressure waves in a fluent simulation and use that solution to compute the forces on particles?<\/p><p>I know it is possible to do do a fully transient wave-propagation simulation, but I am assuming the time-step would need to be terribly small to account for the speed of the sound wave (around 300 m\/s). Does anyone have any input? I am also very new to acoustics and wave-propagation.<\/p><p>Thanks!<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-390498","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-acousticsimulation-1","topic-tag-ansys-fluent","topic-tag-ansys-mechanical","topic-tag-discrete-phase-model"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_subscription":["240657","199"],"_bbp_author_ip":["2601:547:f80:2b80:2c57:b4e4:3603:4275"],"_btv_view_count":["365"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_topic_id":["390498"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27792"],"_bbp_engagement":["199","240657"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["3"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["392006"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["392006"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2024-10-30 13:18:35"]},"test":"nobrienandrew-cmu-edu"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/390498","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/390498\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=390498"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
