


{"id":38696,"date":"2019-11-01T22:52:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-01T22:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/bolt-pretension-on-cable-element\/"},"modified":"2019-11-01T22:52:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-01T22:52:00","slug":"bolt-pretension-on-cable-element","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/bolt-pretension-on-cable-element\/","title":{"rendered":"bolt pretension on cable element"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello,<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I created a truss composed of cables and link\/truss elements that take compression only. then i tried to apply a bolt pretension to my cables. however i get the following error:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>THE PRETENSION LOAD WAS NOT ABLE TO BE APPLIED.&nbsp; MAKE SURE THE LOAD&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <br \/>&nbsp;WAS NOT APPLIED TO A HOLE AND THAT THE LOAD IS NOT APPLIED MORE THAN&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <br \/>&nbsp;ONCE PER SURFACE.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I am new to using bolt pretension; I don&#8217;t know what I am doing wrong. I created my bolt pretension using 3-step analysis where I applied the load in step 1 and locked it in steps 2 and 3. I selected my cable using body selection.
