The material selected for this analysis is Balsa Wood, with properties obtained experimentally.<\/p>
To begin with, we should prepare our geometry. In this study case, the rib will be analyzed as a 2D surface element.OBS: It’s important that the surface is on one of the main planes of the respective coordinate system, as shown.<\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/18-09-2024-1726630257-mceclip0.png\" \/><\/p>
Once the geometry is ready, the mesh should be generated. The element chosen was triangular, with a sizing applied of 2mm, providing an average element quality of 0.96, with a low standard deviation.<\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/18-09-2024-1726630462-mceclip1.png\" \/><\/p>
Next, we have to apply the boundary conditions, and the loads. For the boundary conditions, the rib was considered fixed in the rectangular cut made on it, where the wing spar is meant to be. For the load, an imported load given by a .tsv file, based on a spreadsheet, was used to apply the lift distribution in the rib. To couple the load given by the tsv file with Ansys Mechanical, it was necessary to use the “External Data” module in Ansys Workbench, and link it to the “Static Structural” module.<\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/18-09-2024-1726630572-mceclip2.png\" \/><\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/18-09-2024-1726630712-mceclip3.png\" \/><\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/18-09-2024-1726630825-mceclip4.png\" \/><\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/18-09-2024-1726630995-mceclip5.png\" \/><\/p>
Finally, we were able to generate the results of the analysis. In addition, the results should be validated through structural testings performed on real ribs.<\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/18-09-2024-1726631315-mceclip6.png\" \/> <\/p>
<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/18-09-2024-1726631349-mceclip7.png\" \/><\/p>
<\/p>
<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-382937","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry","topic-tag-aerodesign","topic-tag-distributed-1","topic-tag-excel-2","topic-tag-imported-load","topic-tag-wing-1"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_author_ip":["2804:7f5:9240:25ac:65cb:7738:8f5:dc07"],"_btv_view_count":["1208"],"_bbp_topic_status":["answered"],"_bbp_subscription":["88"],"_bbp_status":["answered"],"_bbp_likes_count":["1"],"_bbp_topic_id":["382937"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27786"],"_bbp_engagement":["88","456201"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["1"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["383108"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["383108"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2024-09-19 08:48:55"]},"test":"a-douradoufsc-br"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/382937","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/382937\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":383114,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/382937\/revisions\/383114"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=382937"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
