The first couple of time steps solve perfectly fine until an output of the following in produced:&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/23-08-2024-1724398329-mceclip1.png\" \/>&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have attempted some fixes mentioned in this form such as&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reducing number of solving iterations in fluent to avoid pressure spikes<\/li>\n<li>Using a compressible fluid<\/li>\n<li>Using solution stabilisation (in fluent and global)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&lt;p&gt;&lt;p&gt;But the same failure occurs with the transient structural component outputting a huge deformation that causes the fluent to fail. I have attached a screen shot of the transient mechanical solution right before failing and the failure solution where you can see with the legend that massive deformations occur.&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/23-08-2024-1724399015-mceclip2.png\" width=\"491\" height=\"413\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/23-08-2024-1724399045-mceclip3.png\" width=\"505\" height=\"412\" \/>&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Mesh: the mesh is as fine as I can make it using the student software so I doubt that is the issue.&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Setup:&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Transient Structural:&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Has been modeled as a surface with 4 mm thickness to save on computational costs.<\/li>\n<li>Has a pressure (MPa) applied (starting from zero and increases using a cube function)<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/23-08-2024-1724400319-mceclip4.png\" width=\"516\" height=\"106\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&lt;p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Fluent:&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uses a pressure outlet<\/li>\n<li>Dynamic mesh: Smoothing and Remeshing and the FSI wall with solution stabilization (.25 coefficient-based)<\/li>\n<li>Model: k-epsilon, as expecting turbulence<\/li>\n<li>Pressure-Velocity Coupling: PISO&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Spatial Discretization: Using 2nd order everywhere and least squares cell based<\/li>\n<li>Max iterations: 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&lt;p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Coupled:&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Step size: .0025, Max iterations: 10, RMS convergence: .01, Under Relaxation Factor: 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&lt;p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Any help with this would be much appreciated&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-379939","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-fsi-transient-1","topic-tag-fluent","topic-tag-transient-structural"],"aioseo_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t<!-- All in One SEO 4.9.10 - aioseo.com -->\n\t<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Hello, I am trying to model a balloon that contains water and expells it due to an applied force on the outer surface, similar to the attached picture.
