I am running a transient thermal analysis and I want to explore the possibility of using elements with higher order in only one direction. To do so, I am using the EMOD command to remove\/add midnodes. However, using this command requires releasing all associativity between the current solid model and finite element model with the command MODMSH,DETACH. Once the command applied, I’ve noticed that that the ESLV command is ineffective to select elements associated to selected volumes (which make sense since I assume the volume are associated to the solid model and the elements to the FE model). So long story short I am wondering what are the other implications of detaching the solid model from the FE model as I would like to know if its a viable approach for my model, since once detached I need to do a lot of manipulation (birth and death, material properties change, heat generation rate, boundary conditions,etc.)<\/p>\n
