Until now we have performed our analysis in PATRAN/NASTRAN. We model the impeller as an assembly of surfaces and the shaft as a 1D line. The mesh ends up as shells and 1D beam elements. To connect the 2D shell impeller mesh to the 1D beam shaft elements we used the RBE2 multi-point constraint. This rigidly linked the shell nodes degrees of freedom to the beam node DOFs.
I am trying to replicate this in Ansys Mechanical and am hitting a bit of a wall. Ansys seems to have lots of tools for applying remote boundary conditions of different sorts, but I am connecting geometry. Ansys also has ‘contact’ tools but they don’t seem to apply to my need to connect to a single node on a beam element.

The closest I can get to is the Remote Point, but I haven’t figured out how to connect the master ‘point’ to my beam node yet.

Any ideas on what tools to use, or even what general area to search for would be much appreciated.
Colin

["post-374726","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry","topic-tag-beams-and-shells","topic-tag-mpc","topic-tag-rbe2
[{"0":
131245","58821
194.168.230.226"]," _bbp_last_reply_id":["0"]," _bbp_likes_count":["0
925
unanswered
374726
27791
58821","131245
2
1
374748
374748
2024-08-01 16:55:56
["GET
