{"id":373157,"date":"2024-07-23T05:04:17","date_gmt":"2024-07-23T05:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/drop-test\/"},"modified":"2024-07-23T05:04:17","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T05:04:17","slug":"drop-test","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/drop-test\/","title":{"rendered":"Drop test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello,<\/p>\n<p>I am trying to simulate a drop test whereby a cylinder falls onto a curved model as shown below.<\/p>\n<p>I am using a transient structural system, with a standard earth gravity applied.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Using velocity equations, I have calculated the time of impact to be 0.142 seconds after the cylinder is dropped.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/07\/23-07-2024-1721710987-mceclip0.png\"><\/p>\n<p>Is transient structural the best way to solve this?<\/p>\n<p>Currently, my results have not shown any impact between the falling body and body taking the load.
