


{"id":372018,"date":"2024-07-16T00:35:04","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T00:35:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/mode-profile-for-a-structured-optical-nanofiber\/"},"modified":"2024-07-16T00:35:04","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T00:35:04","slug":"mode-profile-for-a-structured-optical-nanofiber","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/mode-profile-for-a-structured-optical-nanofiber\/","title":{"rendered":"Mode profile for a structured optical nanofiber"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear all,<\/p>\n<p>In my simulation file, I am aiming to calculate the transmisson of a beam with wavelength 1064 nm guided through an optical nanofiber with diameter 700 nm which also has a slot cut through it&#8217;s waist, shown in the Fig_01.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/07\/16-07-2024-1721089292-Fig_01.JPG\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>My simulation setting is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; FDTD region: 4 um * 4um<br \/>&#8211; PML: 28<br \/>&#8211; Auto shutoff min: 1e-10<br \/>&#8211; ONF diameter: 700 nm<br \/>&#8211; Source: beam with 1064 nm in wavelength&nbsp; and 10 um before the slot cut<br \/>&#8211; Slot cut: A rectangle with triangle-ends with total length 17 um and width 350 nm.<br \/>&#8211; Monitor position: 25 um away from the slot cut (Extra mesh grid with mesh size 3 nm * 3 nm was added at the monitor position for higher accuracy in the transmission calculation<\/p>\n<p>However the mode profile at the monitor position has such a distributation:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/07\/16-07-2024-1721089948-1064.png\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, The mode profile does not reach zero at the end of the FDTD region.<br \/>Based on my previous experience, I am sure that increasin the simulation region will not fix this problem.<br \/>I wonder why it happens and how I should solve this problem.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you in advance,<br \/>Zohreh<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-372018","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_subscription":["68191","2592"],"_bbp_author_ip":["203.181.243.17"]," _bbp_last_reply_id":["0"]," _bbp_likes_count":["0"],"_btv_view_count":["86"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_topic_id":["372018"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27833"],"_bbp_engagement":["2592","68191"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["2"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["372215"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["372215"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2024-07-16 22:59:19"]},"test":"z-shahrabifarahanioist-jp"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/372018","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/372018\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=372018"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
