


{"id":368751,"date":"2024-05-27T16:13:43","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T16:13:43","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/hfss-modeling\/"},"modified":"2024-05-27T16:13:43","modified_gmt":"2024-05-27T16:13:43","slug":"hfss-modeling","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/hfss-modeling\/","title":{"rendered":"HFSS Modeling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Dear Sirs,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">I am working in the Frascati Research Center of the Italian ENEA institution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">My main duty is to draw HFSS models of RF and mw passive components.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The HFSS version we are actually working with is the 2024 one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In the design of a HFSS model of a particular RF component I have identified a couple of drawing problems that I summarize below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Drawing a curve of the type &#8220;x = a z^2 + b z&#8221; I verified that this curve, for z = 0, does not pass by the origin of the axes, but by a generic point P(x ,0,0) whose distance x from the origin depends on how wide the curve is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In addition, I verified that, when this curve is swiped along an arc of circumference lying on the xy plane in order to generate a surface with double curvature (both in the xy and in the zy planes), the final edge of this surface, in the zy plane, is &#8220;engorged&#8221; in the direction in which the sweep took place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">These two problems are not specific to the 2024 version of your code, but I have also verified them in previous versions, and unfortunately, they generate drawbacks both in the design of the component models and in their simulations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">To overcome the two above exposed problems, I have had to use some drawing &#8220;expedients&#8221; that introduce in the design some not parameterizable variables.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">As a result, this makes impossible to use the &#8220;Optimetric&#8221; option of your code, either to perform a parametric analysis of the model or to optimize it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Please, could you help me in solving these problems?
