


{"id":36377,"date":"2019-07-06T04:28:57","date_gmt":"2019-07-06T04:28:57","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/difficulty-in-running-airflow-model\/"},"modified":"2019-07-06T04:28:57","modified_gmt":"2019-07-06T04:28:57","slug":"difficulty-in-running-airflow-model","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/difficulty-in-running-airflow-model\/","title":{"rendered":"Difficulty In Running Airflow Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been trying to run my first calculation model but am having some difficulties.&nbsp; I am extremely new to CFD\/Fluent but have tried to read up as much information on the interweb as possible.&nbsp; Much of it is confusing however but I am trying my best&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>My model is of an internal combustion engine inlet tract terminating in a new valve shape.&nbsp; I believe my mesh is reasonable but I stand to be corrected.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Air enters the airhorn (massflow_inlet) at 45.4m\/s which implies around 0.2048kg\/s of air (68.4mm diameter and 1.225 kg\/m3 density).&nbsp; This value has been entered in the boundary conditions.&nbsp; I am wanting to analyse the flow through the entire model (under a fixed inlet flow of 45.4m\/s) and to see how the flow (speed, pressure, uniformity, turbulance) looks at the outlet.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I have been researching whether this should be a pressure or density based calculation and settled on density but still confused.&nbsp; I assume it should be a &#8216;time steady&#8217; calc but again not 100%.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I am getting an immediate issue when running the calculation that Fluent reports a &#8220;floating point exception&#8221; and stops the model.&nbsp; I can also see in the console window that it shows reverse flow at either or both the inlet and outlet which confuses me as I am not expecting backflow anywhere.&nbsp; I am nor expecting this forum to teach me how to use this tool better but any pointers (in basic\/beginner terms lol) would be appreciated.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I have run the model previously with other settings (of which I did not take sufficient notes and have therefore forgotten) that either did complete the iterations but did not converge or against eventually gave a &#8220;floating point error&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Guidance appreciated&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>PS &#8211; is that the correct file to upload??<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-36377","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_old_topic_id":["8549"],"_bbp_old_topic_author_name_id":["Anonymous"],"_bbp_old_is_topic_anonymous_id":["false"],"_bbp_old_closed_status_id":["publish"],"_bbp_author_ip":[null],"_bbp_old_sticky_status_id":["normal"],"_bbp_likes_count":["0","0"],"_btv_view_count":["280"],"_bbp_subscription":["241134"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_status":["publish"],"_bbp_topic_id":["36377"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27792"],"_bbp_engagement":["240","22555","166472"],"_bbp_voice_count":["3"],"_bbp_reply_count":["7"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["89360"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["89360"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2019-07-12 06:11:14"]},"test":"glenn"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/36377","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/36377\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=36377"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
