


{"id":363458,"date":"2024-04-22T09:41:31","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T09:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/rolling-workpiece-after-rolling-doesnt-match-the-rollers-gap\/"},"modified":"2024-06-04T12:37:31","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T12:37:31","slug":"rolling-workpiece-after-rolling-doesnt-match-the-rollers-gap","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/rolling-workpiece-after-rolling-doesnt-match-the-rollers-gap\/","title":{"rendered":"(Rolling) Sheet thickness after rolling doesn&#8217;t match the roller&#8217;s gap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi I simulate the rolling operation in static structural with 2 work roll, 2 back roll and a sheet.<br \/>Here is the size of each geometry.<\/p>\n<p>Work roll<br \/>diameter: 100mm, length: 160mm, material: 440B<br \/>Back roll<br \/>diameter: 150mm, length: 160mm, material: D2<br \/>Sheet<br \/>width: 150mm, length: 100mm, thickness: 3.8mm rolls to 3mm, material: 316<\/p>\n<p>Friction coefficient is 0.42, turn on large deflection, turn off autosubstep and set 500 substeps.<br \/>Use normal lagrange to minimize the mesh penetration and contact tool also shows no penetration.<br \/>Roller rotate 100 degree and sheet goes through roller with friction. (Didn&#8217;t give sheet any displacement to help go through roller)<br \/>In sheet&#8217;s symmetry plane I set the frictionless support.<\/p>\n<p>The problem is sheet after rolling, the thickness deformation only shows -0.26 ~ -0.28mm in average.<br \/>I&#8217;m using symmetry so half the y deformation from upper sheet face should be -0.4mm (Roller&#8217;s gap is 3mm and ignore material <span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">rebound since it&#8217;s consider very small<\/span>).<br \/>I also notice roller will shaking while rolling.<\/p>\n<p>Material (All of them have plastic curve)<br \/><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/22-04-2024-1713777107-mceclip0.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/22-04-2024-1713777107-mceclip0.png\"><\/a><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/22-04-2024-1713777168-mceclip2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/22-04-2024-1713777168-mceclip2.png\"><\/a><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/22-04-2024-1713777152-mceclip1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/22-04-2024-1713777152-mceclip1.png\"><\/a><br \/>Contact setting (Frictional, Normal lagrange, Friction coefficient is 0.42, add offset;
