The model is a box (white in pic) inside a flow field. Another box (turquoise in pic) presents the flow field itself, but it&#8217;s much bigger than the solid box inside. Also, I created a Body Of Influence (yellow in pic) around the solid box. Its shape is a sphere. For a better understanding, see the picture below. I already got the simulation up and running.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/16-04-2024-1713292115-mceclip2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/16-04-2024-1713292115-mceclip2.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now I would like to do a parametric study. The goal is to analyze the flow around the solid box from different directions. It&#8217;s my first time doing (or trying to do) a parametric study. From what I read online, I thought that the first thing I needed to do was create the parameters I wanted to change. My idea is, that the boundaries stay the same (so the input\/output of the big flow field) and I rotate the Body of Influence with its dead area (so the solid box) in two directions. So I created 2 driving dimensions (angles), one between the y-axis and x-axis and one between the y-axis and the z-axis. I haven&#8217;t changed the angles so far (so they are still 0&deg; as in the original simulation).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After creating those driving dimensions, I had to update the rest of the simulation. But I got an error:<\/p>\n<p><span><em>Error: 4097 self-interesecting triangles exist in the model, which is above the limit for automatic smoothing ( 10 ). Either CAD plug-ins (instead of CAD readers) were used, which sometimes lead to a Multi-body-part topology, or Share Topology in SCDM\/DM failed at certain locations. In the later case, make sure to invoke Forced Share option in SCDM.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span><em>Error: state\/object\/execute-command:Eception encountered in S_ExecuteUpstreamNonExecuteAndThisTask: 4097 self-intersecting triangles exist in the model, which is above the limit for automatic smoothing ( 10 ). How can there be self-intersecting triangles, if I rotate a sphere inside a fluid? And how do I fix it? If you need any further information, please ask.
