{"id":36231,"date":"2019-06-28T10:02:21","date_gmt":"2019-06-28T10:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/contact-settings\/"},"modified":"2019-06-28T10:02:21","modified_gmt":"2019-06-28T10:02:21","slug":"contact-settings","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/contact-settings\/","title":{"rendered":"Contact Settings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi Everyone<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I am modelling a complex friction-less contact and facing some issues that maybe your experience could help me.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In&nbsp;this model as the attached picture shows, there are some contacts between load applicator as a rigid body and the main structure as a flexible body.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>raised questions are as bellow:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\" style=\"text-indent: -18.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;\"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->1)<span style=\"font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1)&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><!--[endif]-->Updating normal stiffness in each iteration:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\">When this option is active, does software increase normal stiffness value in each iteration to the default one (1 for frictional and 10 for bonded)?&nbsp; what the difference between update stiffness in each iteration and never?<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\" style=\"text-indent: -18.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;\"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->2)<span style=\"font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;2)&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><!--[endif]-->Detection Method:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\">The results are different between Nodal-Normal-Target method and 4 other options, and I think that it could be because of Corner-surface contact in a section. Now how could be sure that which option should be selected?<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\" style=\"text-indent: -18.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;\"><!-- [if !supportLists]-->3)<span style=\"font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-stretch: normal; font-size: 7pt; line-height: normal; font-family: 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><!--[endif]-->&nbsp;3) Interface Treatment:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\">For this option also the results are different, if I select Adjust to Touch or Add Offset, No Ramping. Because of initial penetration and some possible errors in positioning load applicator, I selected adjust to touch option, but it was confusing that the results were remarkably different for another option.
