


{"id":358615,"date":"2024-03-23T10:28:28","date_gmt":"2024-03-23T10:28:28","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/mismatch-area\/"},"modified":"2024-03-23T10:28:28","modified_gmt":"2024-03-23T10:28:28","slug":"mismatch-area","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/mismatch-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Mismatch area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello,&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&rsquo;m running a 2D simulation of a tube with two faces, each having a diameter of 15 mm.<\/p>\n<p>On one side, there&rsquo;s a volume flow rate of&nbsp;<span class=\"katex\"><span class=\"katex-html\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><span class=\"base\"><span class=\"mord\">6<\/span><span class=\"mbin\">&times;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"base\"><span class=\"mord\">1<\/span><span class=\"mord\">0<span class=\"msupsub\"><span class=\"vlist-t\"><span class=\"vlist-r\"><span class=\"vlist\"><span class=\"sizing reset-size6 size3 mtight\"><span class=\"mord mtight\">&minus;4<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> m^3\/s.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side, there&rsquo;s a pressure outlet of 10 Pa.<\/p>\n<p>However, when I calculate the area, the order of magnitude is significantly different from what I expected. The area should be <span class=\"katex\"><span class=\"katex-html\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><span class=\"base\"><span class=\"mord\">1.5<\/span><span class=\"mbin\">&times;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"base\"><span class=\"mord\">1<\/span><span class=\"mord\">0<span class=\"msupsub\"><span class=\"vlist-t\"><span class=\"vlist-r\"><span class=\"vlist\"><span class=\"sizing reset-size6 size3 mtight\"><span class=\"mord mtight\">&minus;4<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> m^2, but the result from ANSYS is&nbsp;<span class=\"katex\"><span class=\"katex-html\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><span class=\"base\"><span class=\"mord\">1.5<\/span><span class=\"mbin\">&times;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"base\"><span class=\"mord\">1<\/span><span class=\"mord\">0<span class=\"msupsub\"><span class=\"vlist-t\"><span class=\"vlist-r\"><span class=\"vlist\"><span class=\"sizing reset-size6 size3 mtight\"><span class=\"mord mtight\">&minus;2<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> m^2. Can anyone explain why there&rsquo;s such a large discrepancy?<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, when I applied a scale factor to correct the area, the outlet pressure automatically changed. Instead of remaining at 10 Pa, it increased to 24 Pa.
