The project is to study the impact of a car on a fence. First of all we have designed on SolidWorks the fence and a cube to simulate the car (SolidWorks files are attached in the post).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It&rsquo;s look like this :&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><strong style=\"font-size: 18.6667px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/EHsvIBtK_TIq7KnuigQU1jhAUsqZQA6Di6YstLHw9dY3HlMC4w10XiSYF4HKzF0i-zeUoqnfRoayeScAUgnpWbkXh4EA1MeEcP5WLvpIikmLtu2T5njT1IO2hhghE6ZgxmWG0mj1qyFTA9-U6xpl9pM\" width=\"82\" height=\"83\"><\/strong><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/JAMhT-MwoyWGh5z-76Dt7kTT_ky1UTdqBEQ1Rj8BA_Ty9qfjW_-sY52yN8Ud1wKhJOACz2v5F5B6kjgrsUbh72_fQkD31d0BOHdpgcEGqBSTJWT1HRZp32EmR597DzbP4neY-p7KLhJ97g7UI3qmkuQ\" width=\"700.0173\" height=\"363.96160000000003\"><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So in Ansys Workbench, we take the function &ldquo; Static structural &ldquo;&nbsp;<strong style=\"font-size: 18.6667px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/ZZeUGwGMxPtYCBtZ4-t1pwyYSidWM8LJjl8TlnoooQoOxPOTwr2traMWutd7jk3O1vzxrJkWRobpSJPiAfgsFzDbG57tnuYku2tJNzm2HGNmUbJDDssZAN9hLmnEmvJrKRhr_ZCCdPqHo0W717iOaes\" width=\"148\" height=\"158\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And we import our Geometry in &ldquo;.step&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In the Engineering Date we delete Structural Steel and choose on the bookshelf &ldquo;&nbsp; General Non linear Material &ldquo; we have taken Structural Steel NL for the fence and Structural Steel S235J for the cube and fixation parts.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">For our settings we chose :&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em><strong>Contact :<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Every contact is automatically generated by ANSYS (bounded) but the contact between the cube and the fence we choose is frictional with a Friction Coefficient of 0.2 because there is a slipping between the cube and the wire of the fence.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We try to put the cube &ldquo;rigid&rdquo; but when he passes on this statement we can&rsquo;t apply the force on the cube like explained below.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em><strong>Mesh :<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/gnrPRaUHcuJRBQvoJUuJBdWZyrZD5N_KWPoiSunDmCoV6tVDXW7Ta5htQK0sSgkN5X6LNqWFDEosn6WqFDqoofwFF2dF-sD3hxqI_lDNvCgjNgz3PX6PytSi89l5FKUa1phlnlF0qqk1W3tx8EklnZM\" width=\"322\" height=\"222\"><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We&rsquo;ve tried to decrease the element size to 100 mm without success.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em><strong>Analyze Settings :&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-us.googleusercontent.com\/H3G2Y0rbyrTFxFcfI9SZi_wme8WQMmovk55QChWMmwldXIi9W176_uzgyQEebPPN76lXuyqEWiU_Hob1Hk4ZBJNIUnPY0X9nYDUbVCMK5oky51StsQ1_2Dd3bqproIDvSzm2jLopLQM6bjPVwsKwmZQ\" width=\"256\" height=\"247\"><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Large deformations are activated which is very important in our case. We&rsquo;ve tried using more increments without success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em><strong>Force :<\/strong><\/em> We need to apply 50 000 N on the cube along the Y axe.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We&rsquo;ve found some advice on the internet and it&rsquo;s said to apply step by step the effort. We&rsquo;ve never had results above 20 000 N.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We also add the standard Earth Gravity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em><strong>Displacement :<\/strong><\/em> Displacements of the cube are set to 0 mm on both X and Z axes to avoid the sliding of the cube. Y axe is set to free.
