In the details window, the torsional stiffness of the joint can be defined which, by default, is set to 0 Nmm\/°. From my understanding, the torsional stiffness refers to the ability of an object to withstand a torsional load and can be calculated by using the shear modulus of the material, the length of the object and its torsional moment of inertia which is calculated from the cross-sectional geometry.<\/p>\n
Now, in Ansys, the geometry is already given and I wondered why Ansys does not calculate the torsional stiffness itself and instead assigns a default value of zero? In which cases does it make sense to actually use the default value and when do I need to change the torsional stiffness value to one I calculated myself beforehand? I hope somebody can clarify this for me. Thanks in advance! <\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-356871","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry","topic-tag-revolute-joint","topic-tag-torsional-stiffness"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_subscription":["102866","200"],"_bbp_author_ip":["96.7.218.223"]," _bbp_last_reply_id":["0"]," _bbp_likes_count":["0"],"_btv_view_count":["1439"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_topic_id":["356871"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27791"],"_bbp_engagement":["200","102866"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["2"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["357485"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["357485"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2024-03-17 14:11:35"]},"test":"st157253stud-uni-stuttgart-de"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/356871","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/356871\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=356871"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
