{"id":353837,"date":"2024-02-26T14:04:46","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T14:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/unable-to-resolve-pivot-error-please-help-2\/"},"modified":"2024-02-26T14:04:46","modified_gmt":"2024-02-26T14:04:46","slug":"unable-to-resolve-pivot-error-please-help-2","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/unable-to-resolve-pivot-error-please-help-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Unable to resolve pivot error &#8211; please help!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I&rsquo;m trying to run a simulation structural on the components shown below.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/26-02-2024-1708956134-Screenshot 2024-02-26 133602.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/26-02-2024-1708956159-Screenshot 2024-02-26 133620.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The model uses beam element connection to simulate bolts (image below shows the setup of these).<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/26-02-2024-1708956183-Screenshot 2024-02-26 134242.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When I try to run the model I&rsquo;m getting the following error:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&lsquo;<em>A solver pivot warning or error has been detected in the UX degree of freedom of node 13982 located in Backplate DIff mount|Mirror1[2]. This is usually a result of an ill conditioned matrix possibly due to unreasonable material properties, an under constrained model, or contact related issues.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Check results carefully. You may select the offending object and\/or geometry via RMB on this warning in the Messages window.<\/em>&rsquo;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The issue node seems to change every time I generate a mesh on the components. <span>&nbsp;<\/span>This time it&rsquo;s on this one here:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/26-02-2024-1708956218-Screenshot 2024-02-26 133533.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">After clearing &amp; regenerating mesh its now here:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/26-02-2024-1708956241-Screenshot 2024-02-26 135052.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I will say they most commonly occur in these bolt holes.
