


{"id":352889,"date":"2024-02-21T16:54:47","date_gmt":"2024-02-21T16:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/bolt-pretension-giving-unusual-results\/"},"modified":"2024-02-21T16:54:47","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T16:54:47","slug":"bolt-pretension-giving-unusual-results","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/bolt-pretension-giving-unusual-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Bolt pretension giving unusual results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am attaching images of Bolt pretension used in a simple geometry.<\/p>\n<p>Bolt, Nut, two plates<\/p>\n<p>The dimensions are random.<\/p>\n<p>Contacts: Projected bolt head on upper plate, nut on bolt shank, nut on lower plate.<\/p>\n<p>Bolt head to upper plate &#8211; frictional<\/p>\n<p>nut to bolt shank &#8211; bonded<\/p>\n<p>nut to lower plate &#8211; frictional<\/p>\n<p>between plates-frictional<\/p>\n<p>bolt shank to first plate clearance hole &#8211; frictionless; bolt shank to second plate clearance hole &#8211; frictionless<\/p>\n<p>gave fixed support at side surface of one plate, it showed &#8216;Magnitude exceed&#8217; error. Tried with solver pivot switching to OFF, weak springs ON, Large deflection ON, increased substeps but still it wasnt converging.<\/p>\n<p>So, gave fixed support to second plate&#8217;s side surface also.
